Context
CodeRabbit customers may wish to transfer their subscription from one account to another. This may be desirable in variety of scenarios, for example:
You want to migrate to a new Git platform, e.g. from Bitbucket to GitHub.
You want to migrate to a new GitHub organization.
You select the wrong GitHub organization during checkout.
You intended to subscribe for your corporate GitHub account but accidentally select your personal GitHub account during checkout.
Answer
CodeRabbit subscriptions are tied to specific Git platform accounts or organizations and cannot be transferred directly through the user interface. If you need to change which account or organization your subscription is linked to, you will need to contact CodeRabbit support.
When a transfer is required, our team will:
Cancel the existing subscription
Calculate any unused portion of the subscription on a pro-rated basis
Transfer the remaining value as account credit to the new Git platform account or organization
This ensures you do not lose the unused value of your subscription, even though the subscription itself cannot be moved directly.
When you contact CodeRabbit support, please provide the following information:
The current Git platform account or organization associated with the subscription
The Git platform account or organization to which you want to transfer the subscription
Please note that you must be an Admin or Billing Admin in both organizations in order to authorize the transfer.
How Annual Subscriptions Are Handled
For annual subscriptions, the unused portion of the plan is preserved as pro-rated account credit when moving to a new organization.
Because subscriptions are tied to specific Git platform accounts, the original annual plan is cancelled and the remaining value is transferred to the new organization as credit. This credit can then be applied toward:
A new annual subscription, or
A monthly subscription, depending on your preference
Annual plans are billed at a discounted rate compared to monthly billing. If you choose to apply your transferred credit toward a monthly subscription, the balance may be used more quickly due to the higher per-seat monthly rate. The full unused monetary value is retained, but pricing differences between billing cycles will affect how long the credit lasts.
If you would like help understanding how your remaining credit will apply to a new subscription, please contact CodeRabbit support and we’ll be happy to assist.
Should I purchase CodeRabbit for my organization or as an individual user?
If you are not sure whether you should subscribe for an organization or as an individual user, consider where you will be using CodeRabbit most frequently. The subscription should be linked to the account that owns the repositories where you will be using CodeRabbit's features.
